The Pico Teleno or El Teleno is the highest mountain in the Montes de León, part of the Galaico-Leonese massif, with an altitude of 2188 m. Throughout history it has been a point of reference for the different peoples who have inhabited the area.
Popular tradition has it that there is a staircase with a hundred golden steps that leads to the summit where there is also a golden bull and that the Iberians, who settled at the top of the mountain, rode down on the clouds and provoked storms by throwing the stones they carried in their haversacks.
